Interior Design for Six Towers Within a Landmark Vision

As part of the landmark Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City (MISK City) in Riyadh, DZ Design was appointed to deliver the interior design for six residential towers within this pioneering development.

MISK City is the world’s first non-profit city, launched in 2021 and aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. Located near Wadi Hanifa, the 3.4 km² masterplan brings together residential, commercial, educational and cultural districts. More than 44% of the site is dedicated to green space, reinforcing a clear ambition: to create a sustainable, human-centred environment for the next generation.

Within this broader vision, the six residential towers play an essential role. They are designed to support a vibrant, young and future-focused community.

Our brief was clear. Create interiors that feel contemporary, refined and liveable, while aligning with the ambition of a city built around empowerment and innovation.

Designing for a Future-Focused Community

Residential towers in large masterplans often risk feeling generic. This project required something more thoughtful.

The interior strategy focused on creating spaces that feel elevated yet approachable. These are homes for professionals, entrepreneurs, families and students who are part of a forward-thinking ecosystem. The design needed to reflect that energy without feeling overstated.

Public areas such as entrance lobbies were conceived as light-filled gathering points. High ceilings, sculptural lighting features and carefully layered materials introduce a sense of arrival. The spaces feel generous, but never overwhelming.

Neutral palettes form the foundation, with soft stone tones, warm timber finishes and subtle accents of green. This colour direction reflects the wider landscape of MISK City and its commitment to sustainability.

Large-format glazing and carefully positioned lighting ensure that interiors feel bright and connected to the outdoors.

Human-Centric Planning

MISK City is designed to be pedestrian-friendly and smart. That philosophy informed our interior planning approach.

Circulation flows were carefully considered. Residents should move easily from lobby to lift, from apartment to shared amenities. Clear sightlines and intuitive layouts help create a seamless experience.

Shared spaces such as lounges and wellness areas were designed to encourage interaction without forcing it. Seating arrangements balance privacy with openness. Materials soften acoustics. Lighting creates comfort rather than glare.

The goal was simple. Create environments where people want to spend time.

Apartment Interiors: Contemporary Urban Living

Across the six towers, the apartments were designed to support modern urban lifestyles.

Layouts prioritise functionality and comfort. Open-plan living and dining areas create flexibility. Integrated storage ensures clarity and order. Kitchens are designed to be efficient yet elegant, using durable finishes that withstand daily life.

Bedrooms combine clean architectural lines with softer textures. Feature walls introduce subtle visual interest through tone-on-tone detailing and organic patterns. Timber joinery adds warmth, while concealed lighting enhances depth.

Balconies extend the living space and connect residents to the broader landscape of Riyadh.

The interior language remains consistent throughout the towers, ensuring cohesion while allowing variation across unit types.

Amenities Designed for Wellbeing

Beyond the apartments, the residential towers include a range of amenities that support wellbeing and community.

The indoor swimming pool and wellness areas are designed with calm in mind. Natural materials, soft lighting and clean detailing create a tranquil atmosphere. Timber sun loungers and neutral stone flooring reinforce the sense of retreat.

Fitness spaces are contemporary and efficient. Black ceilings and structured lighting introduce definition, while timber floors and wall treatments soften the experience.

These spaces reflect MISK City’s broader ambition to create a balanced lifestyle environment, where innovation and wellbeing coexist.

Sustainability and Material Strategy

Sustainability sits at the heart of MISK City, and the interior approach aligns with that commitment.

Material selection focused on durability, longevity and environmental responsibility. Neutral stone finishes, responsibly sourced timber and energy-efficient lighting systems contribute to long-term performance.

More than 44% of MISK City is dedicated to green space, and interior planting elements subtly echo that landscape-driven identity.

Rather than relying on trends, the design language prioritises timelessness. This ensures that the interiors will age gracefully within a development designed to serve future generations.

A Landmark Contribution in KSA

Delivering interior design across six residential towers within MISK City reflects DZ Design’s expertise in large-scale multi-family developments in Saudi Arabia.

It required coordination, clarity and a strong conceptual backbone. From lobby arrival to private apartment interiors, every space was approached with consistency and purpose.

This project represents more than residential design. It contributes to a national vision focused on youth empowerment, sustainability and innovation.

Within the context of Saudi Vision 2030, MISK City stands as a symbol of forward planning and human-centric development. DZ Design is proud to have shaped the interiors of six towers within this landmark initiative.
